Interislander operates its Cook Strait ferry service out of its wellington and picton ferry terminals.
interislander terminal- wellington
The Wellington Interislander Ferry Terminal is located between the central city and State
Highway One, and just 5 minutes from the heart of the city.
Travellers driving from the central city should follow Waterloo / Aotea Quay until
the sign for interislander terminal? Turn right into the terminal before the on-ramp
to State Highway One.
Travellers driving south from State Highway One should turn off at Ngauranga Gorge
and take Hutt Road. Follow the road signs for the picton ferry? interislander terminal?
hours of operation
The terminal is open from 6.30am to 6pm daily.
shuttle bus
A $2 shuttle bus to the Interislander terminal leaves from platform 9, Wellington
Railway Station, 35 minutes before ship departure times.
If you are disembarking at the wellington ferry terminal, you will find
a $2 shuttle bus waiting outside the Arrival lounge to take passengers to the
Wellington Railway Station.
taxis
There is a taxi stand outside the Arrival lounge. If there are no taxis waiting,
terminal staff will order one for you.

terminal facilities
A cafe/shop operates inside the departures hall between 7.00am and 5.30pm daily.
Coin/Card phone, toilets/mobility impaired toilets, Internet kiosk, accommodation
information board and arcade games.
parking
Short-term parking is available outside the terminal (free up to 30 minutes). Longer-term
parking is available at a cost of $10 per vehicle per day. There are several ways
to pay for this service: (1) feed the pay and display meter, (2) enquire at the
terminal check-in counter or (3) drive up to the parking booth. The parking booth
is open for all passenger sailing departures and arrivals. Please note the longer-term
parking service cannot be booked in advance.
interislander terminal - picton
The Picton Interislander Ferry Terminal is located on Auckland Street, in central Picton.
If you are coming from Christchurch, Kaikoura or Blenheim via State Highway 1 then
locating our Picton terminal is easy. Follow the road signage directing you to the
Interislander / Picton ferry terminal.
Passengers intending to drive their vehicle onto the ferry will be directed to our
vehicle check-in off Lagoon Road. Walk-on passengers will find our terminal on Auckland
Street in central Picton.

The terminal is open between 4.30 am and 10.15 pm daily.

There is a taxi stand outside the terminal. If there are no taxis waiting, terminal
staff will order one for you.

Limited short-term car parking at the terminal. Please enquire at the interislander
ticket counter. Longer-term parking is available at the BP Gateway Service Station,
located 400m from the terminal (phone 03 573 6105). The cost is $10 per day (uncovered)
and $12 per day (covered).
